Our friendly and welcoming society is open to all levels of dancer (and the aspiring dancer) in the heart of St Andrews. Join the BALLADS family to explore your next Ballroom and Latin dancing adventure!
NOVICE AND INTERMEDIATE DANCE
We offer classes for dancers with more experience in both Ballroom and Latin. These popular classes are for Novice and Intermediate dancers, and are generally focused on training dancers for Inter-Varsity (IVDA) dance competitions across the UK.
BEGINNER DANCE
BALLADS has a fantastic network of beginner dancers and aims to cater for both social and competitive beginners. We offer relaxed, fun and interactive classes led by top-quality teachers for an enjoyable yet productive atmosphere.
PRACTICE SPACE
At BALLADS we understand the importance of practising with your partner outside of usual class times. We offer regular practice spaces to cater for our growing competition team and those wanting some extra time to dance.
WORKSHOPS
BALLADS is proud to offer workshops with top professionals in both Ballroom and Latin. Our workshops are held throughout the year, with a focus on pre-competition training. These are typically 3-4 hour sessions with the opportunity for additional private lessons as well.
COACHES
BALLADS is taught by only the best - James and Karen Millar from Kirkcaldy Dance, winner of the Best Dance School in Scotland. They have been teaching our society for more than 10 years and are highly qualified.

In these classes, we'll be teaching moves from all 10 Ballroom and Latin dances! Come along to this class for the opportunity to learn some fun dances and meet new people.

Membership
​
With membership, all classes have 50% off and members can opt for semester class packages which include all classes. You can also be added to our members WhatsApp group and chat so just drop us a message if we haven't added you already! You buy a full-year membership or a semester membership from the union website. You can pay in cash for the semester and full-year membership.

ROSS
PRESIDENT 2023-2024
As the President of BALLADS Ross is responsible for running the society and creating a fun, safe and friendly environment. Chloe was the 2024-2025 Vice President and has been a member of the society since 2021.

As Vice-president Mackenzie will assist the President to make sure the society is running smoothly. Mackenzie joined Ballads in 2023.

As Treasurer, Élisa is responsible for handling our finances for the year. Élisa has taken on this position after joining BALLADS in 2023.

As Secretary, Daniele sends out our weekly e-mails to keep everyone updated on the happenings throughout the year. She joined the sociey in September 2025 and has danced since she was young.

As the team captain of BALLADS Calvin is at the head of organising the competition team's trips to nationwide competitions. Calvin has been a member of BALLADS since 2024, when he was the Beginners Representative.

As Vice Captain, Xavier is in charge of assisting the Captain in making sure we get to our competitions as well as supporting the team's development throughout the year.

As Head of Events, Louise is in charge of planning out our big events of the year such as our BALLADS Ball, the annual Strictly Come Dancing performance and the Tea Dances. Louise joined the society in 2023 and was Assistant Head of Events for BALLADS 2024-2025.

As the Assistant Head of Events, Avani helps ease the operations necessary to pull off our famous events. She joined the society in 2025 when she came for her postgraduate course.

As the Social Rep, Emilia is in charge of arranging get togethers such as nights out, beach days, and Strictly Come Dancing viewing nights. Emilia joined the society in 2023 and was Publicity Officer for BALLADS 2024-2025 and Head of Events for 2023-2024.
